The State of Online Marketing
The state of social media and online marketing as we know it is changing… and the catalyst for this seems to be the TikTok ban.
TikTok gained popularity back in 2020. However, conflict with the American government has led to a pending ban of the app scheduled for January 19th, 2025 in the United States.
Naturally, this is causing a lot of anxiety for online business owners who rely on the app to keep their business running, or as a major marketing platform.
Which led me to wonder: how do we prepare our marketing strategies to survive uncertainty in the online space?
And I realized that the answer was already there – in the current astrology.
Marketing Strategies Based on The Astrology of 2025
The Astrology of 2025 lays the groundwork for so much change in the way we conduct online business, now and in the future.
The spotlight of the year’s transits is centered around the ingresses of all the outer planets.
Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are settling into new signs – signaling a major shift for our collective to experience together.
This includes the marketing strategies that are used to build community and to sell your offers and services as a business owner.
2025’s astrology is encouraging us to embrace the change and prepare our businesses for it.
When it comes to the state of online business, it’s time to give your marketing strategies a much-needed update to reflect the times we’re in.
No longer is “business as usual” or copying someone else’s business model going to cut it.
Nor is it enough to rely on just one platform.
In fact, there are 3 main marketing strategies that stand out to incorporate in your business strategy.
Here they are – and how they can work for your online business.
The Return of Guerrilla Marketing
In a lot of ways, the best marketing strategies are a return to what has worked in the past.
As the options for oversaturation and omnipresence are disappearing, all of these marketing strategies emphasize returning to what you’re interested in, what actually converts for your business, and what works with the unique way you’re designed to share information.
Decentralized Websites
With a mass exodus from traditional social media platforms like META (Facebook and Instagram) and Twitter, consumers and business owners alike are looking for new places to connect and build community.
And that’s where decentralized websites come in.
Now this can be a self-hosted website (like the one you’re reading on) that can be the foundation of your business. One website is enough to house all of your content. It can also be the place for your people to learn about who you are, what you do, and how you help them.
But decentralized websites can also be the next step for social media or social media-adjacent websites to share your content.
There’s already a rise of people leaving traditional social media sites like META and Twitter for newer platforms, foreign-based platforms, or “social media-lite” websites like YouTube and Substack.
As we move into the next few years, decentralized sites will be the new way to connect to your audience and also market your business online.
Prioritizing Longform Content
This goes hand-in-hand with decentralized sites, but 2025 is also marking the return of longform content as the main content that audiences are looking to consume.
To be clear: longform content hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s always existed.
However, with the crumbling and loss of popularity of traditional social media sites, longform content what will fill the gaps for connection, intimacy, and relationship-building in the coming years.
It’s also important that there’s a return to a variety of longform content… not just video.
Because even with YouTube’s popularity remaining consistent, it’s important to remember that video isn’t the only way to create long-form content.
Creating your long-form content based on your Primary Content Type is the best way to create sustainably while still prioritizing long-form content in your marketing.
Community-Based Socializing
Allf other marketing strategies emphasize a connection to community and going beyond what we want as individuals to extend to our people.
And this includes a return to community-based socializing.
There are already the basis of this with community-based platforms (YouTube, Discord, even Skool and Mighty Networks to name a few).
But what’s exciting about this is that community-based socializing extends beyond the internet – making it viable for offline-based businesses to use as well.
In the coming years, I wouldn’t be surprised for people to start seeking out more in-person events again.
Service providers who can not just teach or share their expertise, but also are gifted at being community organizers and curators of live events will be in-demand.
The Power of Sustainable Marketing
What connects all of these marketing strategies together is that they emphasize how important it is for you to return to what works best for YOU and your individual business.
So as you adjust your marketing strategies to the current astrology, be sure to embrace sustainability and longevity as well.
That is the key to using astrology to ensure that your online business can stand the test of time.
