The Magic of the Midheaven

The Midheaven has often been a misunderstood placement.

Which is a shame because when used right, it can be the secret weapon to transforming your business.

In this post, I’ll break down what the Midheaven is and how you can use it in your business.

What Is The Midheaven?

First of all, let’s clarify exactly what this placement is.

The Midheaven, or the MC, is the highest point of your birth chart. It speaks to our legacy energy and the easiest path to achieve it.

Many people make the assumption that this placement determines our career, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many placements that you could look to when it comes to figuring out the best career for you (including the Wealth Houses). But the Midheaven alone doesn’t dictate your career.

In business, you can utilize this as the leader energy and the specific way that you’re meant to lead.

Breaking Down The Midheaven

Once you’ve found your Midheaven, there are a few ways you can use it.

The Sign

First, you want to look at what sign it’s in.

The Midheaven sign can give you a lot of information alone. What element is this sign in? What modality is it a part of?

When consulting clients’ charts (especially in my Midheaven Readings), I also pay special attention to look at the degree of the MC.

The degree can tell you how a particular placement wants to be expressed. This also helps you to begin to differentiate and make this placement your own, even when you’re around others who have the same placement.

I often use this analogy: if the placement sign is the base layer of a cake, then the degree is the icing. This is how YOUR chart wants you to express yourself with this sign.

If you’re newer to astrology, you can learn more about the power of the zodiac signs to help you make your own foundational interpretation.

The Houses

Next, let’s look talk about Houses.

As a traditional tropical astrologer, I use Whole Sign Houses (I find that in Placidus, the Midheaven always lands in the 10th House, which may not resonate for you).

The MC will always fall in the upper portion of the birth chart. It’s most commonly found in the 10th House, but can also be anywhere from the 7th to 12th Houses. But it will most likely be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th House.

Since each house rules over a different area of life, the one that your MC falls into will give you a bit of direction as far as how to tap into it.

By following the themes of the house that your MC falls in, you can begin to decipher how to use the energy of the Midheaven.

The Ruling Planet

The planet that rules the Midheaven has a special influence.

In traditional astrology, the ruling planets are as follows:

  • Sun: Leo
  • Moon: Cancer
  • Mercury: Gemini and Virgo
  • Venus: Taurus and Libra
  • Mars: Aries and Scorpio
  • Jupiter: Sagittarius and Pisces
  • Saturn: Capricorn and Aquarius

For the ruling planet, you want to take note of which house it’s in. It can also be helpful to consider any aspects that are being made, either between your MC Ruling Planet or to the MC directly.

You also want to take note of any planets that are in the same house as your Midheaven sign. Much like degrees, this can influence how your MC is expressed and experienced.

This can give insight into what your legacy actually looks like.

How to Utilize Your Midheaven in Business

Knowing the MC is one thing, but how do you actually start using it in your business?

That, my friend, is up to you.

Most business owners take the route of bringing it into their branding.

The problem is, your brand is much more than just the colors and fonts you use.

Instead of stopping (literally) on the surface level, you can use the Midheaven to dig deeper.

Choose the aspect of the MC that resonates with you the most. Is it the sign archetype? The house that it resides in? The sign that rules it?

Getting clear on the details and what you connect with most is how you can begin forging a more intimate connection with this placement – and then take the leap to use it.
