Sustainable marketing is the secret to being consistent with your marketing plan.

Every successful coach or service provider uses sustainable marketing tactics in their marketing plan.

In this blog post, I’ll share how you can start building your marketing plan to be more sustainable for your solopreneur business.

The Key to Making Sustainable Marketing Strategies Work

There’s a variety of marketing strategies to choose from. But the key to sustainable marketing is working with your nature – not against it.

Here’s what to consider when it comes to sustainable marketing strategies in your solopreneur business:

The Center of Your Marketing Plan

Before you can decide on which marketing channels to use, you have to decide on the key to the entire sustainable marketing process.

Sustainable marketing works when you center content type, rather than platforms.

Marketing will always feel complicated and exhausting when you try an omnipresent approach. But by focusing first on the content type that works with your nature, it makes it easier to show up and make decisions as a six-figure solopreneur.

This is because you’re building your strategy from your strengths – rather than just following what everyone else is doing.

So first you have to decide which content type is easiest for you to show up with: writing, audio, video, or static images.

Once you’ve decided on your content type, you can build your marketing plan around which platforms best support that content type.

Centering Longform Content

The core of your marketing plan is longform content – which is why it’s the first platform that you choose.

By starting with longform content first, you’ll have plenty of material to choose from when it comes to repurposing without starting completely from scratch.

Some longform content platforms can include

  • YouTube
  • Blogging
  • Podcasting

Choosing Private Community Nurturing

Next, you want to have some form of private community nurturing.

I consider it a non-negotiable for every solopreneur to have an email list – but if you really want to maximize doing this the business minimalist way, this can be your private community channel.

Other forms of community nurturing you can choose from can be making a private community channel on a site like Facebook, Circle, or Mighty Networks.

Strategically Leveraging Short-Form Social Media

You’ll notice that I have social media listed last.

This is because in sustainable marketing, social media is the place to create top-of-funnel attraction content. This is the content that introduces topics to your audience and gives them pieces of what’s available. And it gives your ideal clients an opportunity to choose to take that next step with you by joining you with your long-form content.

Rather than creating social media content from scratch, you can simply repurpose your long-form content into bite-sized pieces via social posts. From there, you create a congruent path for your ideal clients to find you and go back to your long-form content, join you in your private community, and eventually work with you inside your Signature Offer.

This works when you’re intentionally choosing your social media channel based on the content type that works best for you. Instead of trying to be everywhere, the goal is to maximize your reach by focusing on building a presence in just one space.

So when it comes to short-form social media, choose one platform to create a presence with:

  • Instagram
  • Threads/Twitter
  • TikTok
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn

Creating Consistency with Sustainable Marketing

By choosing a sustainable marketing strategy, you’re leveraging your energy to its highest potential.

Consistently becomes less about how many times you can show up and more about what feels easiest to commit to showing up.

This is why intentionality is so important with your marketing plan and using business minimalism in your overall business strategy.
